We went to Fenway and watched the Red Sox lose to Cleveland. Baseball has become a vehicle for bonding with my brothers. We even had an impromptu Yankees versus Red Sox baseball game in our backyard.

We took the Island Queen from Falmouth to Martha's Vineyard so that the neicephews could ride the merry-go-round. It was lovely.

Now, I am back in Australia going through Inspector Climate withdrawal, missing the ability to spend all day with him. I am tired and jetlagged and not handling either particularly well. I may have sobbed saying goodbye to Inspector Climate (who I'll see in two days) about four times. Not to mention the homesickness - I ache for New England with it's green deciduous leaves and my parents farm. But now I struggle to keep my eyes open as I fight jetlag and try not to cry at the thought of going back to work tomorrow.
How have you been?
SOunds like you had an awesome time! Coming home after a holiday always sucks, good luck with the getting back into routine thing :)
ReplyDeleteIts horrible isn't it... I left NZ the first time with a few tears happy to head to France. The second time I was so close to just staying as I was bawling my eyes out at the airport. Saying goodbye to my parents was horrible too... I hate goodbyes!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck getting back into it, and you've got IC to keep you going.
Gros bisous!
I hate the sadness of coming back from a trip.
ReplyDeleteHope your two days without your man go by very fast, and you overcome the jetlag quickly too!
Welcome back! I am glad the trip went well. It sounds divine! Get some naps in and the time without Inspector Climate will go by faster and you'll be less tired :)
ReplyDeleteAwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! It looks like the dogs were so excited to see you! Glad you had a fun adventure!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your trip went well! I just learned today that I might be able to travel soon. So said my doctor. I'm thrilled :)
ReplyDeleteHappy to have you back, sorry you're miserable.
ReplyDeleteLove and Stuff - I think you hit it right on the head, I need to get back into a routine.
ReplyDeleteKiwi in france - When I read this comment, I cried. Saying goodbye is dreadful...
Dina - I hope I get over jet lag too - my head is all fuzzy.
Cammy - Thanks! Those are good tips...although generally I am anti napping when it comes to jetlag.
Life with Kaishon - The puppies are excited to see EVERYONE. Hah. But I adore them.
Sara - That's great news! So, are you planning a trip to visit me in Australia? :-)
Twisted Susan - Thank you! It's good to be back. I'll be catching up on your blog shortly.
I live on the South Shore of Boston and I haven't yet done any of these things.
ReplyDeleteI'm planning on making the fall my "day trip" time for places like Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. And I once tried to go to a Red Sox vs. Phillies game but my family and I never made it into the park. It was raining and why get wet to watch a game when you can watch it on TV at a bar next to the Fenway, right? Maybe next time.
Also? I was legit depressed when I came back from my vacation this year. My whole body was just tired of New England. We're living reverse lives. But now I'm devoting a lot of my energy to embracing it, and I must say it's working a bit. Slowly but surely. Sloooowly but surely.
ReplyDeleteBridget - I highly recommend riding a bike around nantucket. and getting mad martha's icecream! and making fun of people in nantucket pants.
ReplyDeleteMissing home is hard, yo.
Welcome home?
ReplyDeleteJet lag sucks ... I'm dying to make it down your way, but I have a hard time adjusting just when I fly to the east coast. I'll be a mess ....
