So...I am as old as fairly big tree.

Last year, at my birthday dinner, one of the guests told me that "when you turn 25, you realise you are as old as fairly large tree...and a 25 year old tree is pretty old." (this is of course different to the friend who said "To D, who is not a slut.").

Anyway, on Friday I turned 25. Of course the weekend before, I was mistaken for someone who was 16...so there is always that.

Last year, I made a list of the top 4 things I wanted to achieve before I turned 25...they were:

1. Apply for Australian Residency.
2. Get a job.
3. it's a secret - but you know, it's there.
4. Learn the whole thriller dance.

Unfortunately, besides number 3 - which still remains a secret - and accomplished! CHECK. I kind of failed at these.

1. Apply for Australian Residency - oh naive me. I am in the process of doing this...except that it will take another 3-4 years to make this happen. Unfortunately, the process for this starts off with numerous steps and in-between visas and blah blah blah...

2. Get a job. Well, I did get a job. But I obviously should have been more specific. I didn't want just any job that'll pay the bills (although that part is nice). Lesson learned.

3. CHECK.

4. I promptly forgot I wrote this moments after pressing publish. Maybe learning the Thriller dance isn't imperative to being 25? No, that can't be right.

So, I thought that this year I'd be a bit more specific.

1. get a job. I want a job that fulfils my visa requirements, that makes me feel like I am contributing to something useful in this world, that is hopefully in melbourne - but if not somewhere that's beautiful to live and near good yoga (one can't be too picky), that while I may not love going to work EVERY day makes me inspired and excited. Also, not to be too you know...picky, but soon would be nice...Just Sayin'

2.

hm, that's basically it.

  4. My dear Miss D -- This morning, out of the blue, I wondered to myself what you were up to these days. How pleased am I that I still had your blog bookmarked--and that there were new and exciting updates! Your trip home sounds like it was absolutely grand (which photo did the grandparents get in the end?), and I hope that 25 is your best year yet in Australia!
    Love from New York,
