That weekend was very cold

I think I have written about this before, but who has time to search the archives?

I know I said I wouldn't write about this, but it's just to good.

I've never actually worked in an office in the US, however my understanding is that people don't get super personal with their coworkers Right. Away. In fact, I felt like I should keep some distance from my bosses and their personal lives because it just felt weird - like forced friendship. These were people I would not likely be friends with in the real world, so why couldn't we just be polite and outwardly friendly without actually being, you know, personal. Is this just me?

Unfortunately, a guy at work does not believe this. For example, he often would take personal calls at work to his girlfriend, Lovely. One such phone call went something like this... (well, at least his end...)

Guy: ...we can't do that....but, it's too cold to have sex in the bush.

Now is a probably good time to mention that my office is open plan.

I still haven't recovered.

  1. Oh wow, awesome! I guess his girlfriend like to have an audience??

  2. Good lord. I used to complain about overhearing people uttering lovey dovey things to their partners (yes, I'm a bitter old spinster). I clearly didn't know how good I had it.

I thought you left your job...or are you working out a notice period?

  3. No! I would not be able to look him in the eye's ever again. Some people just have no shame :)

  4. Cammy - apparently. All I can say is EEEK

Frisky Librarian - Well, he also refers to her as "beloved" and "lovely" pretty much exclusively. EW. Yes, I was finishing out the notice period - yesterday was my last day! Booya!

Love and Stuff - I struggled to take him seriously after that, I must admit.
