Can you smell that? That's hope.

Last week, I wrote, once again, about the tribulations that are faced when one is unemployed. I thank you for your kind words and comments. But most of all I thank you for listening as wax poetic about my "woes."

Maybe it was just articulating my fears in a blog post, or maybe it was the fact that I got another job interview but for the first time since Christmas I am being optimistic about the job search again. I am still napping, I'm still going to yoga 5 times a week, and I am still scouring the internet for jobs. But I've also been reading a fabulous novel and reading blogs, and volunteering. Frankly, I am so busy I am not sure I can fit in a full time job - you know, if it weren't for that pesky money issue.

So thank you for letting me rant and for reminding me what hope smells like (lemons and poppyseeds - in case you're wondering).

To thank you properly, I'd like to pass along this award I received from Eric who writes here. Of course when he said that he was awarding me the Stylish blogger award...

I had to wonder why, because most days this is my fashion - yoga pants and a yoga top:

I apologise for the unsightly midriff - but one can't focus on midriff when they are working the catwalk like Zoolander. Am I right or amiright?

So apparently I am supposed to tell you seven things about myself...

1. Even after working as a telemarketer I am still scared of the phone. Particularly when there are other people in the office listening to me on the phone. Just thinking about it makes me squirm.

2. I eat a fairly healthy diet. Recently a big salad for lunch with as many fresh veggies as I can afford on my unemployed budget and small dinner. But there are some days, I'd do just about anything for a box of Annie's gluten free mac and cheese.

3. I know what you're thinking, why don't you just make yourself mac and cheese from scratch...And the answer to that is Australian cheese doesn't melt the same as the cheese I get from home - I don't know why that is...

4. I am not sure there is a prop funnier than a giant pencil....

5. Two weekends ago I got sunburnt sitting in the shade...true story.

6. In the past 2 months, I've gotten 2 key word searches for James Blake. I've had to turn down my James Blake love because of Inspector Climate. But James, no one looks as foxy as you do with a shaved head, just sayin'.

7. One of the things I miss about home most is lying on the floor with my puppies and listening to Click and Clack on NPR on Saturday mornings.

So, I mentioned this previously but due to being unemployed I've been able to find a whole bunch of new blogs that I can't but adore....

Lenni from Creativity Not Required.

Chris from Csquaredplus3 who was one of my first Non-real life readers! I adore her blog and she is the epitome of style and grace to me.

Lynzi at Lil Mrs Housewife.

Lily from Lily's Journey.

Amanda from Tales from the Chicken Coop.

  2. Yoga gear alone would earn you a stylish blogger award!

Regarding #2, I survived off of Annie's Mac & Cheese in college; it was awesome.

#4. Though I never actually considered it before, just the thought of a giant pencil after reading this made me burst out laughing.

  6. Why do you think I'm so obsessed with the blog world? It was my full time job when I was unemployed!

  7. omg it's so funny that I also feel the exact same way about talking on the phone. I feel so embarrased when other people are around me at work and I am on the phone. For this new position I have applied for I need to constantly be on the phone calling prospective candidates and it's the only part I am dreading. But I guess if I do get the job I'll get the hang of it and feel more comfortable.

Lily - Phone's are terrifying, aren't they? Ugh.

Tokenblogger - hah, well I have in the past, I am not sure it would turn out ok gluten-free.

  10. Congratulations on your greatly deserved award, and your midriff is perfect. Stop with this "unsightly" business, gorgeousness!

And, THANK YOU for your kind words about me. You made my day, kitten, you really did.

Annie's GF mac and cheese is nummy, although Duke's been tolerating gluten recently. I've been buying Annie's organic *regular* mac and cheese. I ate a little bit yesterday [still struggling with the flu thing].

Anyway, keep your chin up and your attitude fresh. You're doing great! The ideal job [kinda like the ideal guy you found] is right around the corner! xo

  12. Smelly feet, houses reeking of omelettes that once were, and gluten intolerance.

Parhaps we are sisters from another mother?

    I love the Bloggess.

    Seriously?... Reeeally??... Seriously?

    :-)

  14. Yoga pants can be very stylish. All I have to say is that fact that your still working out and stay active is so awesome. Most people take this time to sleep in all day. Good for you :)

  15. Chris - Your very welcome! That's so great that Duke is tolerating gluten - I am a bit jealous.

Teacher Girl - I've got some seriously white skin :) haha.

Stephanie - Hah! Welcome. Perhaps we are! Viva la bloggess!

    Oneika - Aw, thank you!

Melissa - Thanks for the kind words, it's important to stay healthy while unemployed, no time for sleeping!

  16. I feel ya with the yoga clothes. I'm still in my tennis clothes from this morning and have no inclination to change.

  17. In regards to the cheese; it's probably got a lower amount of fat in it, or added stabilizers that prevent it.
Another issue is the moisture content.
But, you can always try adding evaporated milk to a home-made cheese sauce to help stabilize it rather than regular milk. Make it your base, but let reduction be your thickener. Low heat, shred, incorporate slowly.
One of the reasons American cheeses melt so well is they are processed for that effect.
    That lecture was free.
.. and I wear my yoga clothes all the time. ;)
