Our relationship has changed.
Yes, yours and mine.
It's not you, I swear! It's me. It's all me.
It happened quite suddenly - but it doesn't mean it's any less real or genuine.
See, I seemed to have stopped commenting back to you in the comments section. Does that hurt you?
I still
I could start again, I think.
I don't know what made it change.
Did you notice? Did you care?
Will our relationship ever be the same?
Yes, it makes me sad when people stop commenting, especially if their blog is one I love to read and comment on.
ReplyDeleteBut if you're just not feeling someones blog, theres no law to say you have to keep going back xxx

It depends on the comments I think. If someone leaves a really thoughtful comment or one that leads to further discussion, it's nice to reply. But when people leave something like 'It looks like you had a great weekend :)' then I don't see the need to leave another one word response...
ReplyDeleteI very seldom revisit blog posts I left a comment on unless I asked a question of left something I felt required a response. But essentially, no I'm not insulted if I leave a minimal comment and it's not replied too.
And it's lovely that you do go out and check the blogs of those who read yours, many don't.
I don't comment much on my own blog comments but I like to go visit the commenter's blog :)
ReplyDeleteI know we all love comments. Even me. Of course, I realize when I write something its not gonna be everyone's cup of tea. Usually, my writing just might not be what someone wanted to start or end their day with.
ReplyDeleteI know life gets in the way. And there is the facebook crowd. Still, I like the creative venue of blogger best.
hehe this post is so cute :) i know how you feel sometimes i feel like i only respond to people's comments when they are genuine comments not like ' wow looks great! ' or like "great pictures" something like that haha.. actually to be honest i find that when i get comments like that i actually post comments back and respond with the same type of lazy comment they commented on my page hahahahahah
ReplyDeleteWhat everybody else said. :P
ReplyDeleteI know that blog etiquette says that we're supposed to comment back when people comment (and that this drives traffic to our blog, etc.) but I think it's a stupid rule.
Let's be real. I started a blog so that I could write about me. It wasn't really an open dialog. So, no, I am not offended when people don't comment back. I understand. :)
Besides! My comments go to spam on most blogs anyway!
ReplyDeleteI have a tendency to reply to all my comments, and then I'll forget one or two posts. And I'll realise a month later and feel insanely guilty about it. So I get where you're coming from!
ReplyDeleteYou know you can now change the comments form so that you can reply to each comment individually? I've found it makes it easier to reply because you're not trying to scroll up and down to reply to ten different comments at once!
PS. We have Dessert Day, so obviously our relationship will be the same ;)
ReplyDeletePlease continue visiting me - I enjoy all the comments you leave on my blog. I also like commenting back via email - makes it a more intimate discussion.
ReplyDeleteI was only bummed cuz I was curious if you ended up finding wedding shoes :o)
ReplyDeleteI never comment on my own blog comments. If someone new comments I try & go to their blog & do the same. Of if someone asks a question (which almost never happens) I, again, go to their blog & answer their question. I actually never knew you replied in your own comments section until looooong after I had been commenting. I forget to go back & check a post that I already commented on to look for a reply. So no worries here! I just like coming here for your great writing & awesome stories :o)
I wouldn't worry about it. Responses are nice but not necessary. It's your blog and I think you should make the rules. We will love you just the same!
ReplyDeleteI tend to reply to comments completely randomly. I always reply if someone has a question and TRY to reply to every sweet comment that I receive, but usually I just go leave a comment on the person's blog rather than responding to their comment on mine, because I assume that no one checks back to see the responses!
ReplyDeleteAnd speaking of sweet comments, thanks for leaving yours on my blog! Your blog is awesome and I LOVE your honest and hilarious writing style. New follower!
I almost never reply to comments on my blog. I read someplace that a certain element of the blogosphere thinks it is bad form to reply to your own comments - apparently, many (Not YOU!) do it to drive up their stats!
ReplyDeleteI'm a horrible commenter on my own blog, but I'll admit that. I tend to respond to commenters when they've taken the time to write something thoughtful (as others on here have mentioned). It's hard to reply to comments like "Good for you!" or "Have a great trip!"...what would I say? "Thanks!!"
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's just laziness that stops me from commenting on my own blog or on others. I only read about 10 blogs on a daily basis, and so even though I may not always comment, I DO read every new post on these blogs. I think it's quality over quantity for me. But commenting more and replying to commenters on my blog is a personal resolution...starting....NOW!
I agree with what others have said. If someone says something that warrants a response, then do it. If not, I think it is totally okay in my book =)
ReplyDeleteHaha! this post made me laugh! no, I really don't care if you don't comment back. I don't really comment much so I think we're even. I just read your blog, which is awesome by the way.
ReplyDeleteI spent the whole post worried you were giving up blogging. I honestly don't notice most if the time if people reply to my comments, mostly because never notifies you of that happening.
ReplyDeleteYeah I too prefer to visit the commenters blog (so many awesome blogs out there!) rather than reply to comments.
ReplyDeleteUnless it's a question, then I reply! I also never check back on my own comments..
Hello lovely, it's been a while since I've been over :s I don't reply comments in the comments section. If someone asks something, I send them an email or leave the answer in a comment on their blog. If a lot of people ask the same question then i'll put it in the comments section, in the related post and in the next post. I know blogger has that 'reply' function but it doesn't let the person know you've replied so it's no point unless the person comes back to check if you have.... <3
ReplyDeleteNah, man, don't be silly! Heh heh.
ReplyDeleteAnd I always appreciate your comments on my blog, that goes without saying. Thank you!
My only bloggy gripe is that (not with you, obvs, hahah; in general), as I have just discovered, I have all of ZERO FOLLOWERS on my blog. How can that be?! I mean, I'm an entertaining writer, right? Riiiiiiight?! Bahahahah.
So yeah, I'm in something of a funk about that at the moment. And not fishing for "follows" with this lame-ass comment, natch, just venting. Bah!
(What's the deal with following, anyway? Is it really one of those "If I follow you will you also follow me" things -- which seems kind of disingenuous because as if that guarantees that the person would like the asking-for-follows person's blog -- or is it just a random "I'll follow this person because I like them" and then whoever follows you, follows you...? Do I even know what I'm asking?)
I shall shuttie uppeth...nnnnnow.
This is my first comment on your blog :) Unless I ask the blogger a question I generally don't expect or get upset when they don't reply to my comments. I hope people don't get upset when I don't reply to their comments on my blog! Not that I get that many, but still!
ReplyDeleteUpset? CARE? Oh my, I'm totally DEVASTATED! Don't leave me, pleeeeease...
ReplyDeleteYes, I'd be gutted, torn apart, analysing it to death, wondering what I did wrong,. You know, the usual drama.
It is what it is. Sometimes you feel it, sometimes you don't.
You know, I have been contemplating the SAME thing! I have just gotten to a point with work and life right now that I am having a really difficult time keeping up with comments, so I haven't been responding to all of them and I feel pretty terrible about it! I also have barely been commenting on other people's blogs but there are certain ones (like yours!) that I read every time there's a new post. So I may not be commenting, but I definitely am reading!!!
ReplyDeleteI reply to some, but sometimes it doesn't call for it. Also, if people don't always stop by my blog or comment, I tend to think they may have a lot going on. Good post!
ReplyDeleteSo, if I understand correctly, no one cares...
ReplyDeleteAwesome :)
And Mrs. C - no wedding shoes yet. :( I promise I'll blog about if I find them.
LOLZ...yes, I guess no one cares:P
ReplyDeleteAs for me, I do comment on everyone who's commented on my blog, but I only have a small group of commenters, so it's not hard:)
If someone leaves a really thoughtful or meaningful comment, or asks a question, I'll try to reply by email. I'll respond in the comments section from time to time, but I don't think most people ever check back. I know I usually don't!
ReplyDeleteAgree, and I also feel it depends on the comments. Nice blog by the way! :D Cheers from Norway! -irlin.net
ReplyDeleteI usually only comment back to people through emails since I have to approve all the posts. Plus it even takes me a hot minute to read blogs. But I read and comment! I promise! See! lol
ReplyDeleteI don't think so, it probably is better this way.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I never come back to see if someone responded to a comment in their comment box. But of course we all love comments on our blogs, ha ha! Or email! Do you have your email set up to respond to blog comments? That can be the funnest way to interact with bloggers sometimes :)
ReplyDeleteI like to reply to comments, but I have a very small number of commenters, and I like building relationships with them. But I don't care if other bloggers don't respond to mine :)
