A few nights ago, I was awoken from a peaceful slumber by Inspector Climate sitting up in bed. My new go-to way to try to minimise the night time shenanigans and maximise my sleep is to immediately tell him that nothing is wrong and to lie back down.
This is usually met with Inspector Climate telling me quite rudely that he simply won't.
In fact, this specific incident a few nights ago he said "I will NOT, D" in a tone that he would never speak to me with if he was awake (because he is a gentleman and knows how to treat lady...).
He then held his hand up to his face and said "there is something in my eye."
"No there isn't"
"YES! There is rosewater in my eye." He then got up and went to the kitchen and turned on the light.
Then he came back to bed.
The next morning I asked him if he remembered this incident. He did! However, he remembered it quite differently. He thought he had rosemary in his hand and he couldn't get it off. Obviously, in the language of sleep eye means hand and rose water means rosemary. Duh.
Also, my advice, in case any one else is afflicted with the inability to get rosemary out of their hand, is to just let it go.
Hahaha..Oh..that was a good one. And they wonder why we can't sleep at night.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh that is hilarious! I do stuff like this to my husband all the time! And I'll always vaguely remember what happened, too.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty funny alright. Around here we are generous with the exchange of 'I love you's throughout the day but at night, the declarations of love are taken to a whole new level. The amount I am loved is astounding when I'm told about it by a sleeping man! It always makes me laugh.
ReplyDeleteThere have been times when my hubby says some pretty weird stuff in his sleep and the next morning and he's like "Uhhh that didn't happen..." It's so weird. I'm glad when he's awake he treats you like a lady!
ReplyDeleteHa Ha! That's funny. It must be quite alarming for you though Deirdre!
ReplyDeleteIt's always great when you pick up some vital sleep-talk translation tips. Usually, I get gibberish from the Chef, except for that memorable time when he mentioned something about being locked in "the budgie room". Bewildering.
ReplyDeleteThanks goodness I am not the only one that has to endure sleep shenanigans! My husband twitches so violently in his sleep that I very often get woken up by being clobbered in the head. Over the years I have developed some serious ninja blocking techniques and can sometimes anticipate an oncoming twitch - it does make for an eventful night’s sleep. (Also, he gets incredibly grumpy when I wake him up and tell him what has happened. The nerve of that!)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you've heard of it, but the blog "sleep talkin' man," where the wife records and then uploads the silly conversations her husband has in his sleep? I immediately thought of that when I read this. :)

And if you haven't, it's worth a laugh.
Too funny! I like your advice.
ReplyDeleteLike a poem, "water is Mary"
ReplyDeleteToo funny!
ReplyDeletelol rosewater in my eye! this would freak me out every single time I heard the talking while in a deep sleep haha

I would suggest videotaping this so that we can all have a laugh, but then you might witness some Paranormal Activity and get scared!
ReplyDeleteOh the things that IC does!
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh!
Xo Lourdes
Hahahah! Aw, next time just tell him DROP IT. No matter what he says. This could get interesting.
ReplyDeleteHahahah wow that is quite strange. As I've mentioned before my husband says some interesting things in his sleep but usually doesn't act anything out!
ReplyDeleteI will NOT let it go D!!! Haha...loved this story! You have quite the collection of sleep time stories. Keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how things like that can happen when we're sleeping and then a lot of the times we don't remember anything?
ReplyDeleteHmm, funny - or creepy actually? ;)
It happens to me that I start laughing uncontrollably in my sleep - that's creepy, too.
That's hilarious! Too bad he can't be as much of a gentleman in his sleep too though.
